![]() Monofonus Press is an Austin-based record label and multimedia organization, specializing in the physical and digital distribution of music, literature and visual art. Bridging artists across media boundaries to conduce a unique print + audio product, Monofonus aims to share the work born from the manic obsessions of some of Austin’s most influential and anomalous producers. ![]() John Wesley Coleman, much like that of his namesake, John Wesley Hardin, comes from a fugitive place of whiskey drinking, depravity and poor hygiene — and that’s no coincidence. Hailing from the bosom of football country, otherwise known as Irving, TX, and comprising one-fifth of Austin’s psych-country outfit the Golden Boys, Coleman has been playing solo music and in bands since age 15. ![]() Michelle Devereux graduated from Bard College in upstate New York where she studied painting and the whimsical art of Cybergraphics. Upon graduating, she moved to New York City, but after her free Soho loft caught fire, she decided to return to her homestate of Texas. She spends a lot of time in her studio developing paintings of eerie scenes using dimensional trickery and media in the vein of puff paint, and pipe cleaners. ![]() Max Juren is a Jewish carpenter from Norfolk, Virginia. When not crafting safety handrails, reveling in a good dad pun or unsuccessfully attempting to sell out to major corporations via internet video competitions, he makes other videos. Often revitalizing stale pop culture references and exploring symmetrical forms of repetition, he seeks to understand why his generation's art is so inextricably bound to nostalgia and self-deprecating irony. Before Youtube existed, he studied in upstate New York and obtained a degree in English from a remote California university. |
