Domy Books, in association with Cinema Bomar, is pleased to present,

16mm MOVIE NIGHTS

curated by Cinema Bomar

at Domy Books, Houston
830pm – 10pm, FREE ADMISSION

CinemaBomar puts on on showings of 16mm industrial, educational and ephemeral films from our personal collection. Our mission is to give people the experience of seeing these films, most of which were never intended to survive to the present, in their original format with all the damage that time has wrought.

Assasination Extra (1963) (Silent)
45 years ago, as news of President Kennedy's assasination came in, an employee of The Houston Chronicle grabbed a 16mm camera and started filming. Edited entirely in the camera, it documents the production of the newspaper extra from the reports arriving on the teletype to the bundles of finished papers being thrown onto trucks for distribution.

Trade Tattoo (1937) and Musical Poster No 1 (1939)
two short films by kinetic artist Len Lye, reputedly the first filmmaker to draw directly on the film stock. Trade Tattoo celebrates the wonders of the British postal system, while Musical Poster No 1 reminds us, in a jolly way, not to let those dirty Nazis know what you're up to.

Time Piece (1965)
A witty film by Jim Henson which might be said to be about the importance of timing. Or then again, it might not. You decide!

Toes Tell (1969)
"...allows boys and girls to talk and write about their feet and how things feel to their toes." With just that touch of eroticism that is so important in reaching the elementary school student.

Turning a Sphere Inside Out (1977) Topology Films Project
From the days of primitive computer graphics, illustrates Smale's paradox by means of laboriously constructed models which were then hand digitized to produce a computer visualization.

People, People, People (1973)
US Bicentennial Commission. Tells the history of america in 4 minutes, with special emphasis on the perfidy of the white man. With a jazz score by Benny Carter.

Alias St. Nick
The Santa Claus skeptic saves the day.

Tumbleweed: An Odyssey
A lttle tumbleweed runs away to the big city to find its undreamed-of fate.

Why Take A Chance?
Hey you! Those pathetic tires you're driving on are turning your car into a deathtrap! Better buy some Generals.

A Christmas Dream
Santa teaches a little girl a lesson about fickleness

LSD: Insight or Insanity?
When my classmates and I saw this film in Jr. High it made us desparate to drop acid as soon as possible. Narrated by Sal Mineo.

Plus other films to be announced...
