MAP OF MY HEART celebrates the twentieth anniversary of John Porcellino's seminal and influential comics zine, KING CAT COMICS, which he started self publishing in 1989 and which has been his predominant means of expression. In this collection, while Porcellino is living in isolation and experiencing the pain of divorce he crafts a melancholic, tender graphic ballad of heartbreak and reflection. Known for his sad, quiet honesty rendered in his signature deceptively minimalist style, Porcellino has a command of graphic storytelling as sophisticated as the medium's more visually intricate masters. Few other artists are able to so expertly contemplate the sadness, beauty, and wonder of life in so few lines.
Domy also has many of Porcellino's zines and previous publications.

Matt’s work will be in the Austin Monster Show 4 on October 31
Author Joel Waldfogel calls Christmas "a large and organized institution for value destruction, hiding in plain sight but obscured for most people by their warm childhood memories." This, along with the 95 degree humidity, should get you in the mood for the holidayz.

Following the advent of Roller Derby in the 1930s, the full-contact sport rose to great popularity in the 1960s, and then again since 2002.
Several leagues were formed in the USA, most of them for women only, whose sexy costumes emphasizing their femininity formed a stark contrast with the roughness of the sport. Players get into character for the game, assuming alter egos with names like Patsy Crime, Dolly le Dukes, or Death by Chocolate.
Houston-based photographer Shelley Calton (b. 1959) vividly depicts the tempo and emotions of the game, exploring how the players’ self-image demands both a typically masculine attitude and the female erotic showcasing of their own bodies.
“When I initially immersed myself into the world of Roller Derby, I believed it was only about the grass roots revival of a women’s contact team sport. I soon discovered that Derby is really about empowered women breaking barriers and creating new boundaries. I developed a great deal of respect for these women, as well as envy, and I wished I had the courage to skate with them. ”
